Four of the country’s best-selling psychological thriller writers talk about the art of creating suspense and why psychological drama has seized the public’s imagination. They will discuss their inspiration as well as how they produce haunting and explosive storytelling that grips the reader to the very end.

Speakers
Emily Koch is an award-winning journalist and writer living in Bristol. Her debut novel - If I Die Before I Wake - is a top 20 bestseller and was shortlisted for the CWA Ian Fleming Steel Dagger award, longlisted for Authors' Club Best First Novel Award, and selected as a Waterstones Thriller of the Month. Her second novel - Keep Him Close - is out in 2020.
Jane Corry (Chair) used to write romance but her writing turned dark when her first marriage ended in 2005 and she took a job as writer in residence of a high security male prison.
Jane’s time in prison ‘ led to a new voice as a thriller writer - and a contract with Penguin. She has since written four novels for Penguin Viking, all of which have been in the top five of the Sunday Times. The most recent, ‘I Looked Away’, was number three in June this year. ‘My Husband’s Wife’ has been optioned as a television series. She is published in more than 35 countries and has also been in the Washington Post bestseller list.
While working as a GP, Jane Shemilt completed a postgraduate diploma in Creative Writing at Bristol University and went on to study for the MA in Creative Writing at Bath Spa, gaining both with distinction. Her first novel, Daughter, was selected for the Richard and Judy Book Club, shortlisted for the Edgar Award and the Lucy Cavendish Fiction Prize, and went on to become the bestselling debut novel of 2014.
