 About Us

Bristol Festival of Literature is an annual celebration of the creative word in Bristol. The festival is organised by a voluntary community group.

The inaugural Bristol Festival of Literature launched in October 2011, initiated by Jari Moate, with the aim of seeing literature presented across the city in fresh, exciting and meaningful ways.

Today the festival is managed by a talented group of volunteers including writers, publishers, readers and editors, offering the unique grassroots feel Bristol is renowned for. It never stands still, and brings new shapes, ideas and surprises every year. Organised by those who’ve been inspired by what’s gone before, the festival is grateful for the kind support of local firms, donors and of course the hundreds of people who perform, participate and make such wonderful guests and audiences.
